State and county incentives, as well as a favorable tax structure, make the county an attractive place to do business for companies of all sizes.

State Incentives

North Carolina’s performance-based incentive programs help companies that are locating and doing business in the state by reducing the tax burden and lowering overall costs to the company.

County Tier Designations

The North Carolina Department of Commerce annually ranks the state’s 100 counties based on economic well-being and assigns each a tier designation. The tier system is incorporated into state programs to encourage economic activity in the counties. Nash County is a Tier One designation, which is the most lucrative status when applying and qualifying for North Carolina incentives.

The Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) is a performance-based incentive program that provides cash grants directly to new and expanding companies to help offset the cost of locating or expanding a facility in the state. The JDIG has a Transformative Project provision, which can provide a grant worth up to 90% of personal income withholdings for up to 30 years, for any company that creates 3,000 jobs and invests one billion dollars. Visit EDPNC incentives to learn more about this opportunity.
