“The demand for regulatory compliant storage capacity provided by a trusted partner is expanding quickly due to growth of life sciences and healthcare-related research, manufacturing, and stockpiling activities in our region,” said Jeff Johnson, CEO of GXP-Storage.
“The first facility will add over 200,000 cubic feet of secure storage space to meet the growing demand from regulated research and manufacturing activities in the Research Triangle in May 2024”, said Johnson.
The company’s first facility will be in the new 62,500 square foot shell building in the Middlesex Corporate Centre. “This is the second shell building sold within two years in the Middlesex park”, said Andy Hagy, Nash County Economic Development Director. “The sale of the two shell buildings and strong interest in the new 100,000 square foot shell building located at I-95 and NC 97 represents the tremendous success of Nash County’s shell building program, said Hagy. The first Middlesex shell building was sold to SinnovaTek, a Raleigh-based leading developer of advanced food processing equipment and technology.
The new campus will employ over 70 people with an average annual wage of $78,000 and a capital investment of $80 million. Plans include up to 320,000 square feet on the 30-acre campus which is strategically located on U.S. 264 (Future I-587) near diverse logistics providers supporting all modes of distribution including road, air, rail, and seaports.
